Why it's useful

  • Peri bottle sounds like a fancy champagne, but it's actually a rinsing bottle for your private areas. After a vaginal birth, you will be advised to avoid wiping for the first few days - remember there might be tears, stitches, and hemorrhoids. Instead, you can use a peri bottle to rinse and toilet paper to pat dry.
  • It's a good idea to have one ready at home in case you forget the one provided by the hospital.

What to consider

  • Your hospital will provide a peri bottle. Make sure to bring it home (especially if you have not already purchased one).
  • Most hospital peri bottles are not angled. It's not the end of the world if that’s the case, but angled necks can make rinsing easier.

How many to get

One should be plenty. We recommend getting a peri bottle with an angled neck.
